Sunday, April 14, 2013, was a fine Spring day in Washington’s Glover Park. There, in a stretch of fields bordered by Foundry Creek and a north/south hiking trail, I found these views.

Last fall the building at 33 New York Ave., NE, in Washington, DC, was torn down. This exposed a long-hidden ghost advertisement painted on the exterior wall of the adjacent property (35 New York Ave, NE), sporting the slogan, “Coca Cola – Relieves Fatigue.”
The sign dates from the first half of the last century.

Its moment in the sun will be brief. A hotel is being built on the site. The sign will be entombed once again, its message returned to history.
