Last fall the building at 33 New York Ave., NE, in Washington, DC, was torn down. This exposed a long-hidden ghost advertisement painted on the exterior wall of the adjacent property (35 New York Ave, NE), sporting the slogan, “Coca Cola – Relieves Fatigue.”
The sign dates from the first half of the last century.

Its moment in the sun will be brief. A hotel is being built on the site. The sign will be entombed once again, its message returned to history.

Nice eye Mike. Cities should save these treasures…Baltimore (canneries, sail repair, lunch rooms, hats) has done so and trumpet other icons like the neon Domino sign in the harbor.
